Care Factor's BIA service utilizes the leading routing protocol in the world today - BGP4. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is used to exchange routing information across the Internet. It makes it possible for ISPs to connect to each other and for end-users to connect to more than one ISP. BGP is the only protocol that is designed to deal with a network of the Internet's size, and the only protocol that can deal well with having multiple connections to unrelated routing domains. BGP has proven to be scalable, stable and provides the mechanisms needed to support complex routing policies.
High-availability service creation begins with ensuring that all critical single-points-of-failure are eliminated in the design phase. For Care Factor, that means selecting two different upstream connectivity partners. Our service operates today with dual 1Gbps Internet feeds from ENMAX, Envision and Shaw Business Solutions.
The Care Factor BIA solution can support a range of high-availability firewall configurations, including single or dual firewalls, single or dual WAN ports, and single or dual switch ports.
