I recently came across this visually appealing infographic. It describes the data centres and infrastructure behind some of the big names on the internet/social media stage including Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Plentyoffish.com.
For those of us who are visual vs. technical, this is a great way to 'picture' it. This infographic also illustrates the kind of power and energy efficiency that goes into these huge environments. The full pictograph can be found on the Peer1 Blog.
